Strumbrella Appalachian Youth String Ensemble

This is a learning ensemble focusing on traditional Appalachian music, story, and dance. Students will learn the historical background of Appalachian culture through playing instruments, singing/writing songs and poetry, and dancing traditional folk dances like square, contra, and flatfoot. Students do not need experience to join! Instruments available for loan. Students are welcome to bring their own acoustic Appalachian string instrument if they would like.

Students will sing songs, play instruments, and dance folk dances to help build confidence, social skills, and musicality through musical play. This class is offered to students ages 3-5 and 6-7.
Singing and Voice Exploration
Ages 7-12

Students will explore the joys of group singing in this small vocal ensemble. Students will learn to navigate their voice through vocal exercises, games, and youth choral literature and perform at our spring showcase! No prior experience necessary, just a desire to learn and have fun singing!
